For most, a credit card purchase ends up costing 112% more than if the purchase was made with cash. For a savvy user (i.e. pays the balance in full) though, a credit card purchase will always cost less than if cash were used because of earned rewards and grace periods. Additionally, credit card purchases have the protections of the Fair Credit Billing Act.
